Course Details
BLS and use of an AED first aid course
BLS-Basic-Life-Support Including Use of an AED
Basic Life Support and Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator provides learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding to enable them to use an automated external defibrillator and perform CPR. This may be in addition to their role as a workplace first aider. It is a 4 hour course.
The BLS course covers; (But not limited to)
- BLS Basic Life Support
- Be able to support a casualty who is
unresponsive and not breathing normally
Conduct a primary survey of:
• an adult
• a childIdentify the need to commence CPR
Demonstrate CPR for:
• an adult
• a childBe able to support a casualty who is
unresponsive and breathing normally
Demonstrate how to place an adult casualty into
the recovery position
Demonstrate how to place an infant in a
recovery position - Be able to support a casualty who is
choking
Identify when choking is:
• mild
• severe
Demonstrate how to administer first aid to a
choking casualty who is:
• an adult
• a child - Basic Life Support is the entry level into conducting first aid to the casualty.
- Other situations arising according to specific environments
n.b. For those requiring a course for the initial Snowsport England teaching qualification this 4 hour course is accepted.
